Caprelsa - (pronounced) (ka-PREL-suh) drug used to treat medullary thyroid cancer that is locally advanced and cannot be surgically removed or has spread to other parts of the body. It is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer. Caprelsa blocks certain proteins that can prevent cancer cells from growing. It can also prevent the growth of new blood vessels that tumors need to grow. Caprelsa is a type of tyrosine kinase inhibitor and a type of anti-angiogenesis drug. Also called vandetanib and ZD6474
