History

Callan Pinckney, an American fitness instructor, developed Callanetics in the 1980s. Pinckney claimed that the exercise regimen was inspired by her own experiences with chronic back pain and her travels in Asia, where she observed the physical conditioning routines of classical ballet dancers.
