Brow Lift

A Brow Lift or Forehead Lift is a type of cosmetic surgery that raises the brows and/or smooths forehead skin. This procedure is often performed to reduce the wrinkle lines that develop horizontally across the forehead, as well as those that occur on the bridge of the nose, between the eyes.

Pronunciation

Brow Lift: /braʊ lɪft/

Forehead Lift: /ˈfɔːrɪd lɪft/

Etymology

The term "Brow Lift" is derived from the English words "brow", referring to the area above the eye and below the forehead, and "lift", which means to raise or elevate. The term "Forehead Lift" is similarly derived, with "forehead" referring to the part of the face above the eyebrows and "lift" again indicating a raising or elevation.

Procedure

A Brow Lift or Forehead Lift begins with the administration of anesthesia. The surgeon then makes incisions in the hairline at the temples, continuing around the ear and ending in the lower scalp. Through these incisions, the surgeon can modify or remove parts of the muscles that cause frown lines and wrinkles, remove excess skin, and lift the eyebrows to a more youthful position.
