Blogger

Blogger (/ˈblɒɡər/) is a term used to describe an individual who regularly writes content for a Blog. The term "blogger" originated from the combination of the words "web" and "log", forming "weblog", which was later shortened to "blog". The person who maintains a blog is known as a blogger.

Etymology

The term "blogger" was first used in the late 1990s. It is derived from the word "blog", which is a truncation of the term "weblog". The term "weblog" was coined by Jorn Barger on 17 December 1997. The short form, "blog", was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase "we blog" in the sidebar of his blog Peterme.com in April or May 1999.
