Biography (pronounced: /baɪˈɒɡrəfi/, from the Greek words bios meaning "life", and graphos meaning "write") is a detailed description or account of a person's life. It involves more than just the basic facts like education, work, relationships, and death; it portrays a person's experience of these life events.

The term Biography is derived from the Greek words bios (βίος), meaning 'life' and -graphia (γραφία), meaning 'writing'. The word was first used in the late 17th century, derived from the Greek word biographia (βιογραφία).
