Arson (/ˈɑːrsən/; from Old French arsion, from Latin arsio, from ardere to burn) is a criminal act of deliberately setting fire to property.

Arson is the act of intentionally setting fire to property, including buildings and personal property, for malicious or fraudulent purposes. The property can be one's own or another's. The act is considered a serious crime and is punishable by law.
