Arby's (/ˈɑːrbiz/) is an American fast food restaurant chain headquartered in Sandy Springs, Georgia. It was founded by Forrest Raffel and Leroy Raffel in Boardman, Ohio on July 23, 1964. The name "Arby's" is derived from R. B., the initials of Raffel Brothers.

Etymology

The name "Arby's" is a play on the letters "R. B.", standing for the "Raffel Brothers". The original signage included a hat-shaped sign with a Texas longhorn steer head, which was later simplified to a hat shape.
