Apathy (/ˈæpəθi/; from Ancient Greek ápatheia, "lack of feeling") is a lack of interest, enthusiasm, or concern. It is a state of indifference, or the suppression of emotions such as concern, excitement, motivation, or passion.
Etymology
The term apathy comes from the Ancient Greek word ápatheia, which is a compound of a-, meaning "without", and pathos, meaning "emotion". It was first used in English in the 17th century.
